Most natural stone benefits from periodic sealing to keep it resisting stains the way it did when it was installed, unlike quartz, which does not need it. That is a maintenance habit worth building in, not a defect in the material. In exchange, natural stone tolerates heat better than quartz does, and carries a depth and pattern variation that engineered material cannot fully replicate.
